c21 Theatre Company has collaborated with care & nursing homes across the country on a unique project.   ‘Through The Glass’, The  Reminiscence Project” creatively interacts with residents stimulating conversations and encouraging them to share stories from their past. A selection of these stories have been developed into theatrical films and shared with residents and councils.

The Project, funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland through its National Lottery Fund, the Public Health Agency and regional councils and sponsored by Doyle Shipping Group, features five short theatrical films based around the themes of home, community, school days, work and going out.

The first in a series of five short films released in c21 Theatre’s ‘Through the Glass’, The Reminiscence Project. The scenes are written by Gary Wilson and the poetry is by Shelley Tracey. They are based on the theme of ‘Work’ in the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area and bring together the shared memories of older people from Sunnymead Residential Home, Iveagh House Nursing Home and Mahon Hall Care Home in Portadown.

The second in a series of five short films released in c21 Theatre’s ‘Through the Glass’, The Reminiscence Project. The scene is written by Tom Rowntree-Finlay and poetry is from Shelley Tracey. They are based on the theme of ‘School’ in the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area and bring together the shared memories of older people from Rockfield Care Home, Newry.

The third in a series of five short films released in ‘Through the Glass’, The Reminiscence Project.

Poetry is by Shelley Tracey and the scene is written by Gary Wilson. They are based on the theme of ‘Going Out’ and bring together the personal memories of older people from Glenalina Lodge Care Centre in Belfast.

The fourth in a series of five short films in ‘Through the Glass’, The Reminiscence Project.

The poetry, by Shelley Tracey and the scene by Tom Rowntree-Finlay, is based on the theme of ‘Home’ in the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and bring together the personal memories of older people from Antrim Care Home, Inniscoole Day Centre and Whiteabbey Care Home.

This film is funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland through its National Lottery Fund and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and The Executive Office. Sponsored by Doyle Shipping Group.”

The stories, by Tom Rowntree Finlay and poetry by Shelley Tracey are based on the theme of ‘Community’ in the Belfast City Council and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council area and reflect the personal memories of residents and service users in Sydenham Court, Belfast and Inniscoole Day Centre, Rathcoole.
