Announcement – Two Year Project Confirmed for c21

Our Stories – Scene and Heard

We are absolutely delighted to announce that the company has been awarded funding by The National Lottery Community Fund Northern Ireland to work with care homes and day centres across Northern Ireland, over the next two years.

This project comes off the back of our successful Through the Glass – Reminiscence Project in 2020-21 (funded by ACNI) when we produced five short films, in Lockdown, based on the residents’ stories. We wanted to use a similar model, to the one created in 20-21, to continue to significantly increase wellbeing and sociability within older generation communities in Northern Ireland.

The project, ‘Our Stories – Scene and Heard’, has received £128,038 to deliver staff reminiscence training for key care workers, and reminiscence sessions on the theme of positive relationships for residents, at 10 individual settings throughout different council areas. The residents will create a personal memory book and contribute these unique stories towards the creation of their own bespoke film. A booklet and activity pack documenting the journey will be produced at the end of the project leaving a legacy with all the participants. It is hoped that our evaluation can be used to inform policy to improve the wellbeing of care setting residents and staff.

Thanks to all our collaborators for getting the project to this point.
